Student Health Insurance
Health Insurance Quotes for Students
Student Plans
College is a time of transition. Most group and family health plans require children
between 18 and 23 to carry a full-time class schedule to qualify for coverage. If
the student lives away from home or attends part-time, they may not be eligible
for coverage under their parents' plans. If that's the case, it's time to find new
health insurance for them.
Because college students have a statistically higher incidence of injury and dormitory
life can expose students to viral and bacterial illness, it's a good idea for them
to have coverage. Fortunately, the cost of student health insurance is very reasonable.
One medical emergency can far outweigh all the premiums paid.
The two options for student health coverage are an independent, individual policy
from a private insurer such as Blue Cross, Aetna, or UniCare, or the standard college
student health insurance package offered by their school. Not all schools offer
health insurance, and when they do, the plan is less likely to have the flexibility
a young person needs. An individual health insurance policy will offer more options
but may cost more out of pocket.
No matter which option you choose, it's always a good idea to compare policy prices,
benefits, and coverage options. We'd be delighted to help you do that.
