Money Saving Tips

5 Easy Ways to Save Money on Your Health Insurance

1) Look at plans with a high deductible. If you can save $800 a year on your premiums by increasing your deductible by $1,000  you should do it. After a year and three months on the plan you will have already made back your money.

2) Lose weight and stop smoking. Some plans like Blue Cross of California surcharge 25% or more for being a smoker, even with no other health conditions. Also, take a look at our BMI calculator to check your height and weight ratio.

3) Put different family members on different plans. So many of my customers want to group everyone together on the same plan. But this is not always the best idea. For example, obviously your husband is not going to get pregnant so why pay extra for a plan with maternity coverage for something he will never use?

4) Consider an HSA Plan. These are the latest and greatest answer to saving money on health care costs. Just as you would not expect your car insurance to pay for an oil change, why buy insurance to pay for things you can afford? That just costs extra money.

5) Use an agent that represents multiple carriers. There are pleanty of agents that only write one company like Aetna, or Blue Cross. But make sure you know all your best options before you apply for coverage. If you want to know more money saving ideas, call me at 877-758-7587. You'll be glad you did.
